The Royal Funicular

The funicular is the most iconic way to reach the Castle District. Running since 1870, this historic cable car lifts you from the Chain Bridge directly up to Buda Castle in just 2 minutes, with breathtaking views over the Danube the whole way up.

Matthias Church

Built in the 14th century, Matthias Church is one of Budapest’s most beautiful landmarks. Famous for its colorful mosaic roof and richly decorated Gothic interior, it has hosted royal coronations and weddings throughout Hungarian history.

Fisherman's Bastion

The  Fisherman’s Bastion offers the most breathtaking panoramic views over the Danube and the Pest skyline. Its seven white turrets represent the seven Hungarian tribes that founded the country, making it one of the most photographed spots in Budapest.

Magdalena Tower

All that remains of a 13th-century church, the Magdalena Tower offers an impressive 360° view over the entire Castle District and beyond. Climb to the top of this medieval landmark to take in sweeping panoramas of Buda’s rooftops, the Danube, and the Pest skyline.
